Humans are present in almost every part of the globe. They have interrupted many natural habitats through these ways:

• Deforestation: Deforestation is when humans cut down trees faster than they can grow back. Deforestation is a very big problem as it interrupts the the wildlife living in the area, and destroys the soil as well as an entire ecosystem. A great deal of wildlife lives in trees, so by cutting a great many down, animals are forced to find others to live in and use, but when more and more are cut down, that becomes an impossible task.Cutting down trees also harms the soil, as plants keep the moisture from escaping and evaporating into the air too much. By cutting down too many trees in one area, moisture can no longer be retained in the soil and it evaporates into the air and is carried off, preventing rain fall and more plants from growing to replace the trees which were cut down. In the end, the soil loses quality.
• Greenhouse gas emissions
• Pollution (oil, plastic, landfills)
• Acidification (ocean and rain acidification) through releasing chemicals which, after coming in contact with water, becomes acidic.
• Mining (deforestation for mining)
• Farming (deforestation for farming)
• Introducing non native species
• Changing the location of species which are native to a specific area
• Over hunting

• Species are going extinct.
• Global warming → more tsunamis, desertification,
• Icebergs are melting → Therefore water levels rise and cities will be flooded, such as New York.

Humans protecting nature

Humans protect nature in a number of ways

• By opening sanctuaries for endangered animals.
• Using sustainable energy sources e.g. solar panels, wind turbines.
• Creating new products which require less gas emissions, or help the earth’s environment.
• Reducing or eliminating the production of greenhouse gases.
• Planting trees.
• Reducing plastic waste and waste in general.

How do human lifestyles determine the health of different ecosystems?

• The higher the meat consumption, the higher the production of greenhouse gases and use of water, land and feed.
• Higher use of water, for example during showers, more harm to the environment.
• Careless purchases of items result in more resources being consumed and more carbon dioxide being produced.
• Buying imported products from overseas has a negative effect.
